Other Contacts is an application that you install on the network, and on individual computers to let one power add Other Contacts to your GoldMine active Contact record. This application was designed pre GoldMine 6.7 to supply functionality that GoldMine did not posses in those versions, and some of which GoldMine has yet to posses. This application does what GoldMine did not, it automatically brings the address information from the main contact into the Other Contacts record. It automatically strips the first name from the Other Contacts name while it inserts that into the Dear field, and it allows you to continually add Other Contacts until you are through adding all of the Other Contacts for that Contact record.
Initial Setup of GoldMine to use Other Contacts:
As Other Contacts will only run if GoldMine is actively running, Other Contacts should be launched from your GoldMine taskbar. As an Administrator, you can avoid all of this work by simply adding the Other Contacts application to the users taskbar or, better yet, to the default new taskbar. Administrators are aware that this application could be added to the Users' GoldMine Menu as well, although I not longer recommend that approach.
Installing Other Contacts on a network:
Install Other Contacts on the GoldMine server, and add OC.exe to the users taskbar. Then, on each users workstation, install the Other Contacts program into any dummy directory. After the installation is complete, you can delete this directory if you need to space. The purpose of this is to install the necessary ActiveX files, and Runtime Libraries onto that users system directory. If this is not done the users will receive a Files not found error when they attempt to run the application.
